OUR MISSION

Africa is the world's most under-built hospitality market.

A continent of 1.4 billion people and some of the most extraordinary destinations on Earth operates with a fraction of the branded hotel inventory of comparable regions. The gap isn't opportunity — opportunity is abundant. The gap is the bridge between that opportunity and the global capital, operators, and institutional discipline needed to deliver it at scale. HotelCompass is that bridge.

Africa's potential

From the Red Sea coast to the Atlantic, from Cape Town to Cairo — we surface viable projects across 54 countries and give developers the tools to bring them to institutional readiness.

Global capital

We speak the language of DFIs, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, hotel REITs, private equity, and international brand operators — producing deliverables those audiences recognise, interrogate and trust.

The bridge between

Every advisory document, every financial model, every operator RFP we produce is designed to travel — from a project site in Lagos or Maputo to a term-sheet table in London, New York, Dubai or Singapore.

THE TEAM

A dynamic team of dedicated young men and women.

The real story of HotelCompass isn't about any one individual. It's about the talented group of African hospitality professionals, analysts, developers and designers who show up every day determined to build something world-class — for their continent and its international partners.

It's a privilege to lead this team — and to watch them grow into the confident, skilled operators who will shape global African hospitality over the next twenty years.

Our founder, Caesar Waganagwa, brings three decades of experience across Hilton, Marriott, Baur Au Lac, Sarova and Tamarind Group. But the output you see — the feasibility studies, the financial models, the beautifully-designed reports — is the product of a collaborative studio, not a solo practice.

It's a privilege to work with this team. They bring energy, rigour, and a genuine love for the craft. Our job as leadership is to give them the tools, the context and the space to do their best work.

OUR APPROACH

Institutional discipline meets software leverage.

We're not a software company trying to do advisory. We're an advisory firm that built the software we wished we had — so every piece of work holds up on both sides of the capital bridge.

Discipline

USALI 12th Edition. HMA market terms. IRR thresholds set by real DFI and institutional underwriting. Every output stands up in international due diligence.

Transparency

Every advisory document carries a verifiable reference number, wax-sealed authenticity mark, and hand-signed director verification. Capital partners anywhere in the world can verify a document in seconds.

Continental reach

From the Gulf of Guinea to the Indian Ocean, from the Maghreb to Southern Africa — our tooling adapts to any currency, any tax regime, any investor expectation. One platform for the whole continent.

COVERAGE

Active across Africa.
Open to the world.

HotelCompass operates across every major African hospitality market — coastal resort destinations, capital-city business hotels, safari and eco-tourism regions, heritage and cultural circuits. Our advisory tools adapt to any currency, any wage law, any tourism-tax regime on the continent.

On the capital side, we work with international banks, development finance institutions, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and private equity houses across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America — producing the institutional-grade deliverables those partners expect, while remaining grounded in the realities of African project execution.

OUR HOME BASE

Why we're based at the Kenyan Coast

HotelCompass is headquartered along the Kenyan Coast, with operating hubs in Mombasa and Vipingo. The choice is deliberate. Vipingo, just 35 minutes north of Mombasa, is in the middle of one of East Africa's most rapid coastal transformations — a corridor evolving in real time from agricultural shamba and quiet beach village into one of the region's most consequential industrial, logistics, residential and tourism hubs.

Documentary on Vipingo's industrial & commercial transformation

At the doorstep of East Africa's next major hub

Within a 30 km radius of our Vipingo office: the Vipingo Special Economic Zone, the Dongo Kundu industrial port and free-trade zone, the planned standard-gauge rail spur to the Lamu corridor, the Mombasa-Mariakani highway upgrade, and a cluster of new mixed-use developments anchored by Vipingo Ridge, Tulia Homes, the Centum-driven residential projects (Awali, Palmridge, Kingswood), Utalii College, Takaungu Port, Arise SEZ and many other upcoming developments. Land values along this strip have appreciated faster than any comparable East African coastal corridor in the past decade.

Being on the ground here means we see hospitality, real estate and infrastructure projects at the moment they're conceived — not when they reach a London or Dubai data room. That proximity feeds directly into the quality of advisory, due diligence and capital introductions we deliver to clients across the continent and beyond.

CLIENT VOICES

What our clients say.

We only publish testimonials with signed consent and verifiable attribution. Every name, role, and organisation below is real and can be cross-checked.

We're a discreet practice. Several of our recent engagements are still under NDA — including the joint-venture work on the Sunridge Complex and the operator-selection mandate for a coastal-Kenya resort group.

As clients release their projects publicly we'll publish their testimonials here, with full attribution and consent. If you'd like to speak with a past client directly before commissioning work, ask us — we'll arrange a reference call.

Let's navigate the continent together.

Whether you're a developer with a site, a banker sizing a deal, a sovereign fund evaluating sector exposure, or an operator seeking expansion targets — we'd welcome a conversation.
